So, you ask:
AJ- HOWDYA DO ON YOUR FIRST DAY???
Pretty good thank you. Not the best, not the worst.
Here’s what I ate:
- 1 single size low fat cottage cheese
- Fruit 2 Day- Cherry Grape
- small honey crisp apple
- 1/2 of a 3 egg omelet (ham and low fat cheese)
- cut fresh fruit
- 8 oz fresh squeeze OJ
- 1 piece whole wheat toast with 1 tsp homemade grape jelly (no butter)
- (dinner- not sure yet but probably a salad with veggies and a small amount of vinaigrette dressing, a bit of low fat cheese, maybe some baked chicken if I get some gumption)
- 3 PopChips (trying them- not my favorite yet but OK)
- WATER!!! About 40oz so far and more throughout the night
What I liked about today:
- This is the first day in about 2 months where the words “fast food” “fried” or “drive-through” has not been mentioned.
- While a formal workout was not included (but will be tomorrow) I got up early, showered, and walked alot today.
- When I realized I was tired, I stopped what I was doing and took a 2 hour nap. Usually, I would have eaten something (sugary or fatty) to keep me energized.
- DIET SODA WAS NOT IN MY BRAIN OR MY BODY TODAY!!!
I amPROUD OF MY SELF for:
- Going to the grocery store even though my friend that I am also eating healthy with did not go. She wants to start later this week (b/c she has been deathly ill and is not even hungry yet) but I made a promise to myself and I am tired of feeling crappy all the time. Just because she is not ready does not mean I am not ready. This is for me not for her.
- Going to breakfast with friends, ordering healthy and eating almost half of what you ordered is AWESOME! WTG me!
What was kind of a set back today:
- I didn’t get a workout in. I really wanted to, but the day got away from me. Not a set back, as I really want to get my eating in check first. But working out is the only way I am going to burn calories.
I think adjusting is the right word for what I did today. I am proud of myself but I know I can push myself to the limit.
I have been feeling a bit “slacky” lately. Pasta has been my best firend the past few weeks, I have been SICK (fever, chills, horrible sore throat, the works) and work – well, everything at work has been super stressful the past few months. I have been staying stable at 190.8 (DAMNIT- SCALE MOVE!!) for the past 3 weeks. I have been slacking on going to my normal Tuesday night WW meeting and I haven’t been going to the grocery store for fresh food twice a week like I did when I was actively losing. SOOOO, I decided I need to post some Non Scale Victories for me too look at and realize that I am actualy doing something GOOD for my body. That I am accomplishing something even though I have hit a plateau.
So here they are- I no particular order:
- Ladies and gentlemen, I RAN tonight. I ran 5 intervals of 5 minutes (walk 1 minute, run 1 minute). No cheating, no stopping. I was not overly winded, and I actually feel GOOD. The inhaler is WORKING PEOPLE!!!
- People are really starting to notice that I am smaller than I have been in a LONG TIME.
- I keep hearing “Those pants are too big for you…
- I am realizing that bigger is not better when it comes to clothes. I have always thought that tight=scanky and while too tight + too tight + too much skin DOES = scanky, clothing that fits the body actually makes you look thinner. I know Roni posted about that a LONG time ago on her photo pages, but I really had to see myself in mirrors and pictures (that are now long deleted) before I saw that it is really true.
- While I haven’t been going to weigh ins on my “normal” day and time (Tues PM right after work), I HAVE been going to WI’s at a different center on Wednesday AM or Thursday AM’s before work. I am proud that I have been keeping to my personal pact of “if you pay for it, you have to go” Monthly Pass mantra.
- Whie pasta, salt, cheese, FAST FOOD, and Chipotle have been calling on me a BIT too much lately, I have been able to keep my weight constant for the past few weeks. This is a first for me and I credit excercise, which is also a first for me.
- I have already mentioned this in an earlier post, but I Lance Armstrong came on my Nike+ the other day and told me I had beaten my fastest mile for the first time in like a year. I am proud of myself for pushing my body to get faster.
- I started training to walk my first 1/2 marathon 2 weeks ago. The Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon in Chicago. While illness this week set me back a few days, I still got back on the horse by stretching and hydrating– and I ran/walked tonight to get back on track.
- I signed up to walk the Nike Human Race 10K and will be participating August 31st. I challenge YOU to participate- walking, running, whatever if you can. You don’t even have to live in one of the cities participating if you have a Nike+ iPod attachment. Visit www.nike.com/nikeplus for more details or info.
- I have started realizing that Lane Bryant may be a store I no longer have to shop in. A few of my friends (who are also losing weight) have asked if I am in 14′s and if I want their clothes that no longer fit. Well, I am currently between a 14 and a 16, but I am no longer in a 18W or even a 16W. Clothing that fit me really well (or was a bit tight even) in May/June are really big on me now (16W/1X). HEY- If you are in a warm climate and need cute barely warn 16W/1X skorts, shorts, and shirts, please let me know. They are not designer, mostly Target, JC Penney and WalMart stuff but they are cute and not too “mom” looking. I am happy to ship them to you. Leave me a comment and I will email you back.
Well, I gotta get to bed, but this was actually a good thing. I needed to see some of my accomplishments written out. I challenge YOU to to the same if you are struggling.
Here’s to a GREAT OP week and a loss on the scales!
AJ
PS: I can’t remember if I posted this earlier, but DIZZY had her twins!! Check out StrawGirl’s blog for more info!! CONGRATS TO DIZZY and her husband on their healthy kids!!! She has spotty internet service, but I am sure as soon as she has the ability she will post pictures!
…Currently fits in an Ann Taylor Loft size Large and the size XL is TOO BIG on?!?!?
That’s right, THIS GIRL!
You could have knocked me over with a damn feather. I haven’t shopped in “real” sizes in over 9 years. My co-worker (who was with me on a “fact-finding meeting” for work) said “of course a large fits you — all your regular clothes are TOO BIG!”
I am really tired and stressed after my extra busy day at work today (I even brought work home. Oof.) Hope you don’t mind a quick “food only” post with a couple of NSV’s thrown in. Hey, at least I am posting something! J
Anyone looking forward to The Biggest Loser tomorrow night?? I know I am!
No breakfast – I was running late.
NSV- had a “birthday staff meeting” for my boss this morning but did not touch the fatty coffee cake!
Lunch – damn the pizza parties!
- 2 pieces super veggie pizza (small squares)
- 1 small square pepperoni (no crust, just the toppings)
- 1 diet coke
NSV- had a “going away pizza party” for a guy in my office but did not touch the fatty apple cake! (can you tell my office is a fatty food office??)
Snack –
- 3 peppermint nougats – I was stressed.
Dinner –
- Reduced sodium and fat ham, reduced cheddar cheese slice, 2 pieces of 100% whole wheat bread, ½ tablespoon real butter – ham and cheese melt
- 4 pepperochini peppers (small)
- 1 cup ½ 100 percent grape juice, ½ water
- 1 kiwi
NSV – When I was picking up my mail, a woman walked by with a REALLY wonderful-smelling bag of food from my favorite neighborhood pizza joint. She rode up in the elevator with me too, so I still smelled it as I got off on to my floor. As I opened the door to my condo, I said to myself “you are tired, you had a long day and you are starving. You deserve a meal delivered in.” Then I realized what I had just said I actually said OUT LOUD “NO. Eating out makes your stomach hurt and you will be paying for it all night and tomorrow. It will take the delivery guy an hour to bring you your food and you won’t want any of it but the bad stuff anyway. It will take 5 minutes to make something good for you and something you will like.” AND THEN I MADE MYSELF FOOD!! This is a HUGE moment for me.
These people are jumping for joy for me! J
For the first time in a long time. I was late to work, but I made breakfast at home. Big NSV for me! I grilled a peach tonight – it was so good!! Not much to say again tonight, but I will feel like writing soon I am sure!

…to work tomorrow!!! I am having too much fun going out with my friends and cleaning my house (really – I actually am liking cleaning today!! Go figure!)
2 friends and I went to a street festival today and I had a lot of fun- though it was about 400 degrees when the sun was out. No matter, because we got fun drinks and walked a lot. Though I did not make good food choices (corn dog and fries anyone) I know it is because I did not eat anything until I got there at 1. Breakfast= better choices throughout the day for me. I am not going to set up the table, but here is what I ate today.
French Fries 5.5
Lemonade 4
Corn Dog 5
Pina Colada mix (non-alcoholic) 4
big salad with lots of veggies 0
Light Done Right Dressing 2
Diet Soda 0
lots of water 0
Cheese Sticks 7
27 points total – one over my allotted points of 26 for the day. About 6000 steps taken.
A NSV: I premade my lunches/dinners for the next 3 days tonight which is great – I won’t have to think about what I am going to eat for the next 9 meals!!! I bought pork thinly sliced and grilled it. I have a bit of BBQ sauce to go with it. I also bought broccolini (See picture) which I have never had before but it looks great. I have a red bell pepper cut up, and blueberries for dessert. If I get bored with that, I have Progresso Light Soup or Healthy Choice Steamer bowls.
OK, I am off to bed. Have a great night everyone!
AJ
PS: Before I forget to ask: After starting WW, did you notive during your TOM a horrible craving for salt (or sugar, other specific foods)? I am beginning to wonder if I have always had a craving, but since I ate nothing but crappy, bad for me food all the time, I may have satiated the craving with out my knowledge. Your thoughts on this????
