New Favorite Breakfast Item

Have you tried Jimmy Dean D-Lights yet? They are reduced fat breakfast sandwiches that actually taste good! I had the Turkey Sausage, egg white and whole grain english muffin version this morning – and it was GOOOD!
Here are the Nutritionals:

  • 260 calories
  • 7 grams of fat
  • 2 grams fiber
  • 18 grams protein

In my book, that is 5 WW points.

I can’t seem to find a picture that is not flash, but check them out. I bought a box of 12 from Sam’s Club so they were like 95 cents a piece….I have seen them at the regular grocery store for a lot more… Enjoy!

Dairy Free “Ice Cream” – that is actually good!

So you may know that I am newly severely lactose intolerant and am having a really hard time with it (see: Cheese popcorn note to self from earlier today). I am trying to find low point alternatives to dairy products with the caveat that they must taste good.  Though ice cream has not been something that I have had cravings for, I do want it sometimes but it really kills my stomach after about 20 minutes.

While at the grocery store on Monday I saw Tofutti brand “non dairy” frozen dessert. I tried the Chocolate Fudge flavor and was actually not excited about trying it because I figured it would be terrible! I was so wrong – it is so creamy, tasty and truthfully tastes like ice cream! It has a ripple of fudge running through it (not my favorite part- I ate around it) but the chocolate flavoring is really chocolatey. If you have problems with lactose, this is the “ice cream” for you!

PS: 1/2 cup serving is 3 WW points for the chocolate fudge (not currently listed on the Tofutti websiste) Not sure how that compares to regular ice cream as I don’t normally eat it. Sounds kinda high to me but I only need a taste.

First Day on Vacation!

Lots of random things to tell ya…

I spent my day today running around the city and the suburbs in a rented car – lost most of the time. :-) I am working on dressy outfit for a wedding I am attending later this month and I want to look great. I ordered 4 (!!!) pairs of shoes — 2 from JcPenney’s and 2 from Target. I loved one of the pairs from Target, so I needed to return my shoes from JcPenney. There is only like 2 stores in the area, so I had to fumble my way without a map (more about that later) and ended up getting really lost with the twisty suburban roads. I finally did make it there and then got a call from my office (grrr… I am ON VACATION) asking me to come in. COME IN?!? On my VACATION!?!?

Well, I ended up going in. But just for about an hour or so. Really. Anyway, my organization is going through a huge restructuring and my job *might* be one of them on the chopping block. While they have already told me that they will do whatever they can to keep me, I have been really afraid that I am not going to be able to keep my same job (as I strattle 2 departments that have been seperated with the restructuring- It is a long story) Anyway, I can’t talk much about it yet, but I have been offered a 50% of the time temporary assignment (TDY) to work with a different department so I can get my name out there (My org is about 600 people in the US and I work in a field office so I am not very well known). Anyway, it is good news for now. I will find out at the end of my vacation if I get the TDY.

And now why I did not have a map on my little trip to the ‘burbs – I tried to print out Google Maps today, but my old crappy error-ridden printer would not let me. SOooooo… I stopped at Wal-Mart for Mr. More food and a Brand. New. Printer! (to go with the STILL NOT HERE Dell Laptop). I got the Kodak EasyShare 5100 All in One Printer and I love it already! The ink refills are only – get this- $9.99 for black and $14.99 for color. SO CHEAP!!! And it prints photos for 13 cents – and the photos look great since it is a Kodak printer. I can scan and copy on it too – I really love it. I was concerned that the “normal black and white on normal paper” would be iffy, but they look great. :-) Now I can print all the maps I want!!

Food for today – I actually ate very little. I did not eat breakfast (Bad AJ)  and was so busy shopping and running around I only had time for a quick pit stop at buger king for a small onion ring for lunch. But I had a big “breakfast for dinner” dinner. See below.

I have my “it has been a month since I cried like a baby” checkup with the doctor. I have NOT weighed myself in a month. Wow, I cannot believe I made it! It was hard, but I really did keep up with my 5 goals. While I don’t think I lost any weight, I don’t think I significantly gained either. I will post after my appt tomorrow at 9AM – Wish me luck!

I am making Roni’s “kid’s ate it” pizza/pasta sauce tomorrow – I got the ingredients at the store this afternoon after I left work.

My Ebay account was hacked into and someone bid on 800 dollars worth of stuff  – all of it in Spain and Great Brittain. I was so scared that I was going to have to pay for it – this has never happened to me before. I got online with Ebay and the (supposedly) took care of it. I got a message today from some girl in Spain (in spanish) telling me I won the auction for a 120.00 US computer and she gave me her check routing number to send her $$! Of course I am not going to send her $$! I got back on line with Ebay and they told me the sent her an email (in English, I am guessing) telling her that my account was accessed by hackers and to repost her item but I have a feeling that she did not understand the email (since it was in english) I hope this does not have a negative affect on my Ebaying. (I don’t do it much anymore) Anyway – this is my public service announcement to you: CHANGE YOUR EBAY AND PAYPAL PASSWORD today – and don’t make them the same passwords!! Thank you.

Pilsbury Reduced Sugar Cake mix and frosting

So I am going to a party tomorrow and I need to bring something for dessert. I found this at the store - Pilsbury Moist Supreme Reduced Sugar Cake Mix and frosting. I made 18 normal-sized cupcakes (using cinnamon applesauce instead of oil -conversion 1:1) and had a bit of batter left so I made mini cupcakes in my mini pan. I ate 2 of the mini cupcakes and left the others alone – good for me! I really cannot tell the difference between the full sugar stuff and this – I am not a sweets kind of person though so it may be differnet for chocohoilcs :-) If I get a chance I will take a picture of them before I leave for the party tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

New items to try…

prods_steamer_image1.jpgI came across the new Cafe Steamer Bowls from Healthy Choice last night in the grocery store. I bought two of them to try and had the Roasted Chicken Marsala. One of the things I don’t usually like about frozen meals is that they have so much sauce on them, and I am a picky eater that likes things “plain”. I actually really liked the bowl, because the sauce is seperate from the meal and you pour it on after the bowl steams/cooks in the microwave. Check them out if you have a chance. (If I remember correctly, this bowl was 6 pts.)

savoryvegbarley1.jpgAnother of the new favorites are the new WW approved Progresso Light soups that are ZERO POINTS PER SERVING!!! I really like the  Savory Vegetable Barley Soup. mmmm!

And though I mentioned how much I loved them before, I am giving another shout out to the Blueberries and Cream Light Frappacchino from Starbucks. I love this drink, and love even more that Starbucks has a nutritional value calculator 2698starbucksblue1.jpgon its website. Tall is  points and Grande is  points (though tall is just enough for me)
