I. Am. Sick. It started as a deep chest tight-feeling and a crazy sore throat Monday night. I stayed home from work on Tuesday, calling the doctor as I had a dry non-produtive cough. The nurse said it might be the beginning of bronchitis and to drink lots of fluids and call Monday if it was still a dry unproductive cough. I lubbed up with Mentholatum Ointment, using what all I had left in the jar (I think it works OOOOO much better than Vicks) and drank my weight in OJ and water, then headed to bed. The next morning, I felt a bit better (lest chest congestion) and went to work – about noon, I felt like crap. I went to Walgreen’s and bought throat drops, Vicks and Thursday, I went to Thanksgiving at a friends house, and about 3pm again felt like crap – this time both head and chest – thought the stuff I was blowing from my nose was clear. We went to bed early so we could get up at 3:30am and SHOP!! Friday, we shopped at Kohl’s and Target and were done at 8am (only have 5 more gifts to get!!). I took a 2 hour nap (feeling again like crap) and then when I got home at 5ish, I slept through the night. With Vicks. This morning, the chest congestion is back, and I am blowing thick green stuff (sorry) from my nose. I guess I am glad that the crap from my head is coming out, but I am concerned that I still feel a tight chest (though not as tight as it was Tuesday. I am just really ready to be feeling better. 2 reasons why I am sick- 1. I have been eating crap and I always feel like crap when I eat like crap. 2. I have been stressed doing my regular job and my new job at the same time. Everytime I get stressed out, I get sick. I need to take it easy and de-stress. I think I am going to do some yoga today and sleep and relax. Hope you are healthy and feeling good! My friends and I had a “Mandrette” birthday party to celebrate my 31st- 4 friends – Janenette, Hannah, me and Michael (all with birthdays within a week) squished our names together and partied on Saturday at a martini bar. I very much enjoyed the martinis and had a blast. Enjoy a photo… [caption id="attachment_546" align="aligncenter" width="564" caption="The Birthday Kids"] [/caption]
Set the scene: Two 14 or 15 year old girls, all dolled up in designer clothes and carrying really expensive purses and cell phones, sitting next to me on Saturday. They had to be Northern suburb bitches. They were making fun of the “poorly” dressed people on the bus and talking general smack about everyone that walked past them. They thought they were SO COOL and SO Smart. It made me feel so good to overhear this conversation between them…. Bitchy Teen #1: OMG, I am so super tired and crabby lately. It SOOOOOO has to be the weather and the season. Bitchy Teen #2: OMG, I totally know what you are talking about. I am SUPER depressed lately. I totally saw something on CW last night about why we feel this way. It TOTALLY has something to do with winter being here. BT#1: I know. It is SAD or something. BT#2: Yeah, like SAD Disorder or whatever. BT#1: Yeah, It TOTALLY stands for Seasonal Attitude Disorder. BT#2: Yeah, totally. No wonder we are so crabby.
PS: for those of you that don’t know, SAD is Seasonal AFFECTIVE disorder. I love teens. I really missed you guys. I FINALLY have internet at home! I of course can’t write now, I have my 31st birthday party to get to (my b-day was actually on the 20th) PS: Internets, how do I stop the spam comments that are clogging my blog right now? Any suggestions? I PROMISE to write something Sunday – really – with pictures and everything! am visiting my mom in california and she still lives in ancient times- no internet service. yep, not even dialup… so iam hoping my smartphone will post this correctly. will be back next week! 5 Chicago bloggers (plus Roni) met up at Mity Nice Grill in Water Tower Place in downtown Chicago, and ate good (for us) food and had great conversationabout our daily lives, who we are IRL and food and life and… well, everything! It so so good to hear about Roni’s time at the Quaker Blogger Meetup and how much she learned about nutrition and good food. [caption id="attachment_532" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Mity Nice Pass - why we needed it? No one knows exactly.."] [/caption]
She (and the other bloggers) at lunch got me really thinking again about my health and really working on losing the last 30lbs I want (need) to lose. They also got me really interested in making sure I am blogging more about what is going on in my life. Thanks Roni (and ladies) for a fun and amazing lunch! I am SO GLAD I was able to meet you in real life! AJ [caption id="attachment_533" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="The cutest 101 year old lady who stopped and talked to us!"] [/caption]
