finally- a few minutes to blog!

First – sorry for being MIA. I have been crazy busy, but that is no excuse. I have made a promise to myself that I need to get back on the blogging bandwagon because I am more honest to myself when I have to share it with all of you!! :-)

Second, a while back I mentioned that lots had been changing and I needed to tell you all something. Well, after a lot of talk with my doctor (4 appts and lost of discussion around the the fact that I was not losing any weight though I was sticking to my WW plan and walking alot more) she put me on Phentermine to help me make better choices. I have been on Phentermine before- about 4 years ago it helped me lose 35lbs by eating right, going to WW meetings and exercising. I went off it to have breast reduction surgery, and long story short, started making bad choices again, and gained all but 3lbs back over 4 years.

It was a very hard decision for me to make to go back on the pills (I actually waited 4 months before I took my doctors advise and went back on them) but I feel that this pill is not a quick fix, it is something that is helping me make better choices in my life. It helps me pause before eating the whole bag of doritos and makes me think twice before ordering out for pizza. I go in for monthly monitoring with my doctor, I work out 3 times a week (well, I walk 3 times a week for 45 minutes)  and I am still following WW. I want the weight to stay off this time and want to be as healthy as possible. I know some of you will see this as a negative, me resorting to “pills” when you are stuggling to do it on your own, but I feel I made the best decision for me, and believe me, it was a difficult one. I admire you for doing it the best way you can for you.

I have lost 7lbs so far on Phentermine, and I have been on it for just over 1 month. This blog will continue to be about my struggles with my weight, with the addition of other things going on in my life. I hope you all will continue to read and help me throught the rough patches.

On a lighter note, I am now gainfully employed after Jan 1!! I am so excited that I will not have to move and I will be taking a newly created position in the office I am currently working in! Yippee! It is even a promotion! It is very true that God opens a window when he closes a door.

Thanksgiving was great – I spent the day with a friends extended family then we went shopping at 5AM on Friday. I was suprised at how “empty” the stores were this year. I did notice that there were not as many good dorrbuster deals as last year, so that may be why. I was done with 99 percent of my holiday shopping by 8AM! So cool. I love getting home as everyone else is getting out of bed.

I am still in disbelief that I turned 30 last week. remember when you were 7 or 8 and though 30 year olds were SOO OLD? :-)

My Google reader decided to implode last week, so I have been s l o w l y recovering and trying to find you, my blogging friends. I am almost back to normal and hope to be reading about your lives soon. I am SO PROUD of Roni and her cover girl moment- I am going to the gorcery store tonight and hope to pick up a copy of her mug on Women’s World! Collette is rocking my world with her new bookshelves and what can I say about Steph? She is always so fun to read about!!

WOW- when I don’t post for a while, I get long winded! More later!

Hope you are all having a great day!

AJ
